Travel Purpose: leisure
Positive: The location is beautiful with lovely walks and a river. The restaurant is superb. Hot tubs are wonderful, sauna too.
Negative: The room was shabby and small. The buildings are old and dilapidated. The outside area is neglected with old cat cage and junk lying around. The pool was empty. (Generally Icelandic houses are ugly and basic.) We needed to do some work but the desk that was in the photos was not in the room. It was expensive for what it was. Still. It was worth it and the food alone, the nature, the geysers. That's unique!
Summary: Mixed bag.

Positive: A beautiful setting in rural Iceland with views of the river and geothermal areas, but close to a small town with some amenities and restaurants. The hotel had cute and comfortable cabin-style rooms with big north facing views - which would have been great to view aurora - unfortunately too cloudy when we were there. The restaurant had a geothermal stove for cooking which was very cool. The breakfast was tasty with good choice. The best part of the stay were the outdoor hot tubs!

Positive: The room was comfortable, breakfast was excellent, and actually, so was dinner in the restaurant. Loved the hot tub, although only one out of two were working.
Negative: Appreciated the Nespresso machine, but there was no kettle, so no way to make tea unless you put up with coffee tasting water from the Nespresso machine.... Also our bathroom had a strong sulphur smell, which I put down to the location and all the hot springs around the area, but our friends' bathroom didn't smell at all, so maybe something could have been done...?
Summary: Comfortable stay for one night
